Who is eligible for the HPI Visa?
To be eligible for the HPI visa you must have been awarded a qualification from an eligible university within the 5 years before applying for the HPI visa.
At the time the qualification was awarded the awarding Institution must have been on the Home Office Global Universities List for the month and year it was awarded
Applicants must be 18 or over
Must apply via Ecctis to check your qualification is valid and at the eligible level
What does the HPI Visa permit?
The duration of a High Potential Individual visa depends on the level of your overseas qualification awarded by an eligible top global university. Applicants with a qualification equivalent to a UK Bachelor’s or Master’s degree are granted permission to live and work in the UK for 2 years, while those with a PhD or other doctoral-level qualification can stay for up to 3 years.
The High Potential Individual visa offers exceptional flexibility compared to most UK work visas. Holders can work in almost any role, be self-employed, undertake voluntary work, or start a business – without needing a UK job offer before arriving.
You’re free to look for work, change jobs, and switch employers while in the UK. The only restriction is that you cannot work as a professional sportsperson or sports coach.
Eligible partners and dependent children can join you in the UK, provided they meet the relationship requirements.
